The ‘o’ word. The word that dare not be spoken. The term that is other people’s problem – not mine. Not ‘Overweight’ (being a bit tubby is fine). After all, most of us could stand to lose a bit of weight. Carrying a few extra pounds is not really a problem. But that other ‘o’ word…OBESE… is a problem that exists in another part of Fatville.
The ‘obesity blindness’ is so endemic in Fatville that 90% of residents can’t identify an obese person. That’s not to say that misjudging your weight is a one-way street heading downhill – a great deal of Fatvillians also OVERestimate their own weight. Some are trading up, some are trading down. What nearly all Fatvillians are doing, however, is getting their weight wrong.
